Weaver Line Oyster Card Pouch

This simple Oyster card holder is a subtle nod to the new London Overground line- the Weaver Line! I designed this pattern because I thought it could be a fun way for London knitters to identify each other across the city.

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in two colors (Color A, Color B)

    • Color B should be a shade of purple similar to the color assigned to the TFL Overground Weaver Line

    • For color A, I used acrylic Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling yarn in Beige Heather. (I don’t know the name of the purple I used because my mom found it on the airplane!)

  • Knitting needles appropriate for your yarn

    • I used size US 8 (5 mm) straight bamboo needles

  • Tapestry needle

  • Scissors

Finished Size: 4 in. wide x 3 in. tall

Pattern

Body: Using Color A, cast on 16 stitches.

Row 1 (Right side): Knit all stitches. Row 2 (Wrong side): Purl all stitches.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the piece measures approximately 10 cm from cast on edge.

First stripe: Change to Color B. K1, P1, K1

Space between stripes: Change back to color A. P1, K1,P1

Second Stripe: Change back to Color B . K1, P1, K1.

Final section: Change back to Color A. K1, P1, K1. Bind off all stitches.

Assembly: Fold the knitted piece in half lengthwise, with the wrong sides together. Seam the sides together using mattress stitch, leaving the top open. You can add fabric lining on the inside, if you wish!

Disclaimer: I have never designed a knitting pattern before so I can bet that this is a pretty rough one.
